About

Born and raised in Saint John, New Brunswick, I have always felt most at home a stone’s throw away from the water and with the cacophony of a foghorn, church bells, and a busy port. At 17 I moved to Ottawa, Ontario to study journalism and history at Carleton University. I fell in love with Canada’s Capital, but found my way back home in 2018.

During high school I interned at the Telegraph-Journal and caught the bug for telling a good story. I returned as a summer intern and then to freelance, before deciding to take my writing skills in another direction. My photography has been featured in the Telegraph-Journal, Centretown News, and the now-defunct HERE magazine.

In my bag you will always find my favourite pen (or three, just in case two run out of ink), my current read, and my camera. One of my favourite things to do is travel and plan my next trip. Post-graduation, I backpacked across ten countries in six weeks with a 19th-century, gilt-edged, leather-bound edition of Hamlet solely for the photo opportunity at Kronborg Slot in Helsingør, Denmark.

In October 2020 I decided to combine my love of reading with my passion for photography and publish book photos and reviews online under the moniker DistilledReads.

In October 2021 I decided to take things one step further and turn to writing and editing full-time. Since then, I have written original SEO content, edited SEO content to connect with readers, and more recently turned to offering manuscript editing services.
